Chess Canada

In 2005 Robert Hamilton accepted a two year post as Editor of Canada’s national chess magazine, Chess Canada. During Robert’s tenure as Editor the quality of the magazine was substantially improved and the magazine received excellent reviews.

Virtually all of Canada’s top players made contributions to the publication including regular columnists Kevin Spraggett, Igor Ivanov, Jean Hebert, Igor Zugic and Nikolay Noritsyn, who between them have won fifteen Canadian Senior Championships. Canadian scholastic guru Hal Bond and award winning international journalist Larry Parr each had popular columns. Rounding out the key contributors were Technical Director John MacPhail, another top Canadian player, and Burlington based graphic artist Colin Jameson.

Entering a period of austerity the Chess Federation of Canada decided to move to an all-online national publication beyond Robert’s tenure, making the issues done by Hamilton as Editor the last printed Chess Canada magazines.

Included on this page are the final five issues of Chess Canada done by Hamilton as Editor. Each is a large PDF file, get it by clicking on the cover image.
